Test Drive 2001 is a 2000 racing video game developed by American studio Xantera and published by Infogrames. It is a Game Boy Color exclusive entry in the series and has similar gameplay to the Game Boy Color version of Test Drive 6.
Gameplay
The action is viewed from an isometric perspective, and players progress gaining more money to be able to buy cars. The game offers three game modes, and allows a two player mode to compete using the Link Cable.
- Single Race - Involves beating the clock and other computer opponents on any of the tracks using any of the cars.
- Tournament mode - Players has to earn extra money to buy new and better cars, or to upgrade the current car. It is also possible to unlock additional tracks.
- Cop Chase mode - Players take control of a police car and have to pursue the computer controlled racers.
Vehicles

The game includes a selection of vehicles which players can acquire upon earning credits. The player's vehicles can be upgraded with power ups - acceleration, top speed, traction, nitro boost - as well as upgrades - nitro, shield.
Cop vehicles are also available to play in the Cop Chase mode.

Trivia
- It is the only Game Boy Color entry in the series published as an original title, as opposed to a handheld adaptation of some previously released title.
- It was the last Test Drive game to be released in a Nintendo platform until the 2021 announcement of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown for the Switch.
